Cara membuat daftar isi lebih rapi di ms word

Lembar daftar isi biasanya akan selalu ada dalam sebuah laporan, skripsi, proposal, buku, atau naskah tertentu yang mempunyai banyak bab dan halaman. Tujuan dari daftar isi itu sendiri adalah untuk mempermudah seseorang mencari topic atau bab tertentu dalam buku atau skripsi dan sejenisnya tersebut. Dengan adanya daftar isi tersebut seseorang akan lebih mudah menggambarkan isi dari karangan, atau buku dll. Lembar daftar isi biasanya berada pada bagian halaman awal.

Nah dalam pembuatan daftar isi itu sendiri jika ditampilkan dengan rapi dan menarik, juga akan mempermudah orang untuk membaca dan mengetahui halaman yang sedang dicarinya. Berikut ini adalah salah satu cara untuk membuat atau mengatur lembar daftar isi menjadi lebih rapi dan enak dipandang.

Sebelum melangkah, kita asumsikan bahwa ukuran kertas yang dipergunakan adalah A4 dengan lebar 21 cm dan tinggi 29,7 cm. Batas margin kiri 4 cm sedang margin kanan 3 cm.

Ketikkan terlebih dahulu tulisan daftar isi nya sampai selesai
Blok atau seleksi teks yang akan diberi nomor halamannya.
Tekan tombol Alt+P+P+G untuk membuka jendela paragraph.
Atau klik tanda panah kecil di group menu paragraph pada ribbon Page Layout
Setelah muncul jendela paragraph, klik tombol Tabs yang berada dibawah
Muncul jendela tabs, pada tab stop position isikan 14 cm, Alignment pilih Right dan Leader pilih None klik Set

Nilai 14 cm merupakan lembar kerja yang dapat diketik. Lebar kertas – jumlah margin kiri dan kanan. ( 21 – (4+3)) = 14
Isikan kembali pada tab stop position 13 cm, Alignment pilih Left, Leader pilih 2 dan klik OK

Angka 13 cm merupakan panjang titik-titik dari batas margin kiri
Langkah terakhir arahkan kursor pada akhir setiap teks, kemudian tekan tombol Tab dua kali dan berilah nomor halamannya.

Hasilnya daftar isi anda akan menjadi lebih rapi dan juga mudah membuatnya

Ok tips kali ini masih tips yang enteng-enteng yang emang terjadi ketika kita lagi bekerja dengan menggunakan worksheet Microsoft Office Excel yaitu sebuah tips bagaimana caranya kita menggabungkan dua kata atau kalimat yang berada dalam kolom yang berbeda, dan caranya sangat mudah.

Nah rumus yang kita gunakan yaitu memakai

Nah supaya ga penasaran coba sekarang buatkan data-data seperti gambar 1 dibawah ini

Ok sekarang coba masukkan rumus dibawah ini :

Artinya kita ingin menggabungkan data yang berada di cell A4 dengan data yang berada di cell B4.

Dan hasilnya seperti gambar 2 dibawah ini, untuk data kebawahnya cukup copy rumus sebelumnya kemudian sorot kebawah atau tekan paste :

Dan terlihat bahwa data sudah menjadi satu tapi sayangnya kok tidak ada jarak pemisah atau spasi atau tanda lainnya, dan kita ingin hal tersebut ada, ok sekarang asumsikan kita hanya ingin ada jarak spasi dikata tersebut dan sekarang coba masukkan rumus sebagai berikut :

Nah sekarang kita belajar membuat Data base secara sederhana, kemudian kita ingin mengolah database yang berguna untuk mengetahui data atau informasi yang kita inginkan dengan maksud dengan sekali mengetikkan suatu data masukan maka data yang muncul adalah sebuah Informasi tentang kondisi dari data tersebut.

Kita ambil contoh tentang Data Base Hasil Ujian di sekolah disuatu kelas, coba perhatikan contoh Tabel.1 dibawah ini, ada sebuah data yang berisi Data Siswa dengan Nilai hasil Ujiannya. Sekarang coba buka Worksheet Excel Sheet1 dan ikuti contoh seperti Tabel.1 tersebut jangan lupa Sheet1 kita ganti nama menjadi DB (maksudnya Database).

Coba ikuti langkah-langkah sebagai berikut :

1. Perhatikan Tabel.2, di Cell B2 tepat disamping Nama, coba ketikkan rumus dibawah ini :

=VLOOKUP(B1,DB!$A$2:$B$11,2,FALSE)
Artinya kita ingin melihat sebuah nilai yang sama dari Cell B1 yaitu NIS dengan muncul sebuah nama di Cell B2 yaitu Nama (dalam hal ini nama dari NIS dimaksud) dengan melihat data di DB diantara Cell A1 sampai dengan Cell B11, adapun sebuah muncul angka 2 maksudnya kolom yang menjadi patokan pencarian data atau mengadu data atau mencari persamaan hanya 2 kolom sedangkan False adalah sebuah Nilai dari range yang kita lihat benar atau salah.

2. Perhatikan Tabel.2, di Cell B3 tepat disamping Jenis Kelamin, coba ketikkan rumus dibawah ini :

=VLOOKUP(B1,DB!$A$2:$C$11,3,FALSE)
Artinya kita ingin melihat sebuah nilai yang sama dari Cell B1 yaitu NIS dengan muncul sebuah nama (kata) di Cell B3 yaitu Jenis Kelamin (dalam hal ini Jenis Kelamin dari NIS dimaksud) dengan melihat data di DB diantara Cell A1 sampai dengan Cell C11, adapun sebuah muncul angka 3 maksudnya kolom yang menjadi patokan pencarian data atau mengadu data atau mencari persamaan hanya 3 kolom sedangkan False adalah sebuah Nilai dari range yang kita lihat benar atau salah.

Ok Cukup dulu untuk pembuktian coba sekarang ketikkan salah satu NIS di Sheet 2 Cell B2, misalkan A10001 maka hasilnya akan muncul :

Masih di Sheet2, pindahkan kursor ke Cell B7, sekarang kita ingin mencari Berapa Sih Nilai Ujian Siwa Tersebut Pada Ujian 1, uuntuk itu coba masukkan rumus sebagai berikut :

=SUMIFS(DB!$F$2:$F$11,DB!$A$2:$A$11,Sheet2!$B$1,DB!$D$2:$D$11,
Sheet2!$A7,DB!$E$2:$E$11,Sheet2!B$6)
Artinya kita menggunakan rumus SUMIFS karena kita akan mengadu dataatau mencari persamaan lebih dari satu data, disini data yang akan kita adu atau cari persamaannya adalah :
Nilai ujian (F2:F11) dan NIS (A2:A11) yang ada di DB dengan data NIS di Sheet2 (B1).
Nama Bulan (D2:D11) di DB dengan nama Bulan di Sheet 2 (A7).
Ujian Ke (E2:E11) di DB dengan angka dibawah baris Ujian ke di Sheet 2 (B6).
Tanda $ apabila berada sebelum dan sesudah Cell berarti mengunci data tersebut baik dari sisi kolom maupun baris.
Tanda $ Cell berarti kita mengunci data tersebut dari sisi kolom.

Jika sudah seperti pembuktian pertama coba ketikkan salah satu NIS di Sheet 2 Cell B2, misalkan A10001 maka hasilnya akan muncul :

Untuk melihat Nilai hasil Ujian ke 2 (Cell C7) cukup mencopy rumus sebelumnya. Kemudian untuk mencari total dari hasil 2 kali ujian (Cell D7) saya yakin semua sudah pada tahu cukup ketikkan rumus :

=SUM(B7:C7)

Untuk mencari Nilai Rata-Rata (Cell E7) saya yakin banget semua sudah pada tahu tinggak ketik rumus :

=D7/2

Untuk membuat keterangan bisa manual dengan memperhatikan beberapa kriteria misalkan jika nilainya dibawah 7 maka dianggap Kurang kalau diatas 7 berarti dan seterusnya. Nah disini kita bisa menggunakan Vlookup atau rumus IF, disini saya menggunakan rumus IF, coba masukkan rumus sebagai berikut :

=IF(E7<7,”Kurang”,IF(E7<8,”Cukup”,IF(E7<9,”Baik”,IF(E7=>9,”Baik Sekali”))))
Artinya Jika nilai Rata-rata siswa tersebut kurang dari 7 maka keterangan yang akan muncul adalah Kurang, jika lebih dari 7 tapi kurang dari 8 adalah Cukup, jika lebih dari 8 tapi kurang dari 9 adalah Baik, jika sama dengan dan atau lebih dari 9 maka hasilnya adalah Baik Sekali.

Jika benar maka kita sudah membuat suatu Data base yang sangat sederhana karena dengan sekali memasukkan data NIS maka akan dengan segera muncul Data atau informasi yang akan kita maksud.

Data Base diatas akan masih bisa dimodifikasi sedemikian rupa sesuai dengan kebutuhan kita anggaplah latihan kali ini adalah kita mencari Nilai Ujian Per NIS Siswa dan dilain kesempatan kita akan mencari data Nilai siswa tersebut dengan melihat variabel lainnya.

Question: I'm trying to create pull down boxes in Excel 2003/XP/2000/97 with selections to highlight and fill in the cell. How do I do that?

Answer: To create a combo box in Excel, the first thing that you need to do is display the Forms toolbar. To do this, under the View menu, select Toolbars > Forms.

The Forms toolbar should now appear. Select the combo box icon. Then left-click on the spreadsheet where you'd like the combo box object to appear and drag the mouse pointer to the right until the combo box is the desired size.

Next, you will need to enter somewhere on your spreadsheet, the values that you'd like to appear as selections in the combo box. We've entered our values in cells A2 through A4.
Next, right-click on the combo box and select Format Control from the popup menu.

When the Format Object window appears, select the Control tab. Then select the input range for the combo box. This is the cells that contain the values that you wish to see in the combo box.
Then select the Cell link. This the cell that is linked to the combo box. This cell will display the combo box selection.
Click on the OK button.

Now when you return to the spreadsheet, your combo box should display a selection of values. In our example, it displays Active, Inactive, and Unknown.

When you select a value, the linked cell should display the index of the selection. In this case, we selected "Inactive", so cell C5 displays a 2. The value of 2 represents the 2nd value in the combo box.

If you need to translate C5 back to the combo box selection, you can use the following formula: (but do not place this formula in cell C5, place it in a cell that you are currently not using)

=INDEX(A2:A4, C5)

The INDEX formula would return the value "Inactive".

File Checker from CMD

To start the System File Checker follow the below steps:

Click Start>All Programs>Accessories, right click on the Command Prompt option on the drop down menu which appears, click on the Run as Administrator option.

a. In the Command Prompt window, type: sfc /scannow,

b. Press Enter.

c. You’ll see “the system scan will begin”.

The scan may take some time and windows will repair/replace any corrupt or missing files. You will be asked to insert your Vista DVD if it’s needed.

If the above step did not fix the issue, try restoring the system to an earlier point prior to windows update when everything was working fine.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

Click Start, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.

In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click next.

In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click next.

Click Finish.

If all the above steps did not fix the issue, try startup repair. Refer the steps below in order to do a startup repair:

If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disc, the option to repair your computer will not appear.

If you have a Windows Vista installation disc:

1. Insert the installation disc.

2. Restart your computer.

Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart.

• If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. Buat boot pertama dari CD Rom pada BIOS “instalasi dengan CD”
Masukkan CD instalasi Win2003 server n tekan enter saat minta boot dr CD Rom
Tampilan pertama akan muncul setup n langsung aja tekan F8 = I Agree
Lalu masuk ke jendela pemartisian so buatlah partisi “disarankan 2 partisi”, misal C untuk system n D tuk data, sesuaikan juga kapasitasnya sesuai dengan Harddisk.
Setelah pemartisian C & D, serta Free Space 8 MB (dah default), sorot pada partisi C tuk instalasi sistem.
Ada empat pilihan format, NTFS (Quick), FAT (Quick), NTFS,dan FAT. Di sarankan pilih NTFS karena keunggulannya n bisa alokasi data bila mengalami kerusakan pada harddisk secara otomatis.
Enter, Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition Setup “Setup is formatting” -> “Setup is copying files”
Komputer akan restart secara otomatis n akan muncul loga windows 2003 server

Akan muncul “Installing proses“ agak lumayan lama sekitar setengah jam-an”

Pada tahap ini akan muncul jendela “Regional and Language Options” yg bisa di konfigurasikan kl ga mau ribet langsung aja next.

Lalu muncul jendela “Personalize Your Software” untuk mengisikan nama dan organisasi so isi dengan lengkap.

Setelah itu instalasi meminta serial number “Your Product key”. Isi sesuai dengan serial number yg tertera pada CD “cover CD”

Kemudian akan muncul jendela “Licensing Modes” yg memiliki 2 pilihan : “Per server. Number of concurrent connections” pada pilihan ini fungsinya menentukan berapa banyak server melayani user dalam satu waktu dan “Per Device or Per User” berarti user akan di konfigurasikan (memiliki lisensi Sendiri) dengan server dalam satu waktu, disarankan pilih yg pertama n masukkan aja angka 100

Lalu akan muncul “Computer Name and Administrator Password” so isi jangan lupa passwordnya demi keamanan.

Selanjutnya dihadapkan pada “Date and Time Settings” untuk menseting waktu “Jakarta-GMT+7”.

Setelah itu akan muncul “Networking Settings” dengan 2 pilihan Typical n Custom, disarankan pilih Typical aja demi kelancaran dan kemudahan.

Next, akan muncul jendela “Workgroup or Computer Domain” so sesuaikan aja dgn lingkungan disekitar, bisa pilih “No, this computer … bla bla bla….”

Proses selanjutnya menunggu “Copying files” -> “Installing Start menu items” -> “Registering components” -> “Saving settings” -> n secara otomatis akan install komponen2 lainnya.

Pada tahap akhir computer akan merestart dengan sendirinya dan akan muncul logo “Welcome to Windows screen”

Pada saat ini, untuk masuk ke dalam “Windows Server 2003” diharuskan menekan Ctrl-Alt-Delete secara bersamaan.

Dan akan muncul tampilan “Log On to Windows”, yg meminta password sesuai yg telah di konfigurasikan sebelumnya. “Pada tahap 14“

Dan setelah itu akan masuk ke dalam OS Windows Server 2003

Selesai dah semua tahap instalasi.

This page describes how to create and configure an ODBC system data source for use with Stylus Studio®. This process consists of three main procedures:
Creating an ODBC system data source
Configuring the data source in the DataDirect SequeLink Manager
Connecting Stylus Studio® to SequeLink Server

Each of these procedures is detailed below.
Before You Begin

Before starting this process, you must have installed DataDirect SequeLink SocketServer on the machine you wish to use as your data source. The DataDirect SequeLink Socket Server installation package.
Step 1: Create an ODBC System Data Source

The first step is to create an ODBC system data source. (This example uses a Microsoft Access database as the data source. The ODBC database you use for your data source might differ.) To create a new data source:

Click Start > Settings > Control Panel on the Windows menu. The Control Panel window appears.
Double-click Administrative Tools on the Control Panel window. The Administrative Tools window appears.
Double-click Data Sources (ODBC) on the Administrative Tools window. The ODBC Data Source Administrator window appears.
Click the System DSN tab and click the Add button.
The Create New Data Source window appears.
Scroll down the list until you find the driver associated with the database for which you want to create a data source, and then click Finish. The ODBC Setup dialog box appears.
Note that the information on this dialog box, including the dialog box title, varies based on the database driver you selected in the previous step. Here, we selected a Microsoft Access database driver, so the information displayed in the dialog box is specific to that database.
Enter a name in the Data Source Name field. Click the Select button in the Database group box. The Select

Database dialog box appears.
Navigate until you find the database you want to use as the data source and click OK. You are returned to the ODBC Setup dialog box
Click OK on the ODBC Setup dialog box.

Step 2: Configure the Data Source in the DataDirect SequeLink Server Manager

Once you have created a data source, you need to configure it using DataDirect SequeLink Manager, as described in this section.
Start the DataDirect SequeLink 5.4 Manager. For example, Start > Programs > DataDirect SequeLink 5.4 Service for ODBC Socket > SequeLink 5.4 Manager Snapin. The sladmin54 window appears.
Expand the SequeLink 5.4 Manager (localhost) branch. This exposes another branch, Not connected to SLAgent54.
Expand the Not connected to SLAgent54 branch. The Logon to SequeLink Service dialog box appears.
Enter a user ID and password and click OK to connect to the SequeLink Service you created when you installed the DataDirect SequeLink SocketServer. (This will be the user ID and password for the machine on which you installed the DataDirect SequeLink SocketServer.)
Once you are connected, expand the SLSocket54 [active] branch as follows: Configuration > Data Source Settings > Default > Advanced. When you are done, your window should look like the following:
Double-click DataSourceSOCODBCConnStr. The DataSourceSOCODBCConnStr dialog box appears.
In the Value field, enter the following: DSN=data source name, where data source name is the name of the data source you created in step 6 in the previous procedure.
Click OK, and close the sladmin54 window.
Step 3: Connect Stylus Studio® to SequeLink Server

After the data source has been configured using DataDirect SequeLink, it's ready for use in Stylus Studio®, as described in the following procedure.
Start Stylus Studio®.
Click File > New > DB to XML Data Source. The Scenario Properties dialog box appears.
Select DataDirect Sequelink from the Database Type drop-down list. Stylus Studio® provides a default value for the Server URL field.
In the Username and Password fields, use the values you used to connect to the SequeLink Service (step 4 in the previous procedure).
Click OK. Stylus Studio® connects to the data source you created and configured in the previous procedures.

5. Harus menyetel sendiri Recycle Bin agar file yg dibuang bisa ditampung di Recycle Bin
6. Harus pintar2 main di Control Panel dan registry agar performanya bisa lebih baik seperti xp biasa

What Is Chkdsk F?

The chkdsk / f command is run from the command line interface that is available on most computers with Windows operating systems. It is often utilized as a task in routine computer maintenance, when a computer freezes up, or if a system crash has occurred.

Function

Chkdsk / f checks the NTFS and file allocation table (FAT) file systems and then produces an error disk status report. It also quickly repairs disk errors or bad sectors found on volumes on the hard drive.

Run Chkdsk / f by going to the Start menu and selecting "Run." Type "cmd" at the command line prompt and then press Enter. This will bring up the Recovery Console. Next, type "Chkdsk c:/f" and then press Enter.

Benefits

When volumes on hard drives are repaired, computer disk space is better utilized. Files are also retrieved faster. Running chkdsk / f is one of the fastest ways to check and correct disk errors.

Limitations

If the disk is not locked or if files are open, chkdsk / f will not be able to make necessary repairs. Furthermore, it can end up displaying a false report due to files remaining open or the disk not being unlocked. When this happens, a message prompt will give the administrator the opportunity to run the task the next time the computer is started. Options are to check "Y" for yes, or "N" for no. If "Y" is selected, upon restarting the computer, the task will automatically begin.

The disk drive can be locked by typing "Lock C" at the DOS command line. When the process is complete the "Unlock C" should be entered in the DOS command line. Administrator privileges are required to run the chkdsk / f command.

Risks

There is a risk of data loss after repairing a disk because the file allocation table has been altered during the process. It is a good idea to back up all data and create a recovery disk before running chkdsk / f. Select "Y" (yes) if a message prompt appears stating that units were lost and giving an option to convert those lost allocation units into files. They will be formatted with the file extension "*.chk."

The Check Disk tool scans for disk errors bypassing the command line. This is accomplished by right-clicking on the Start menu on the computer taskbar. Next, select "Explore." Berikut ada sedikit tutorial basic pembuatan aksesoris jam kayak di clocklink.com, hihihihi… tudepoin aja yak… begini ceritanya… Tung ting tung ting : Jam Dinding *Doraemon Mode ON*
Pertama, buat dokumen di flash dengan ukuran 120x120 pixel.

Di stage, buat gambar persegi panjang seperti dalam contoh di bawah ini. Gambar ini nantinya akan kita gunakan sebagai jarum penunjuk jam (jarum yang pendek :P). Kemudian ubah gambar tsb menjadi movieclip dengan cara : seleksi gambar tsb >> pada keyboard tekan tombol F8, maka akan muncul dialog box "Convert to Symbol". Pilih type-nya "Movie clip", abis itu pilih Registration pointnya seperti pada gambar di bawah ini. Letak Registration point sangat penting untuk menentukan pusat putaran dari sebuah movieclip :)
Beri nama symbol movieclip ini sesuai selera Anda, nama ini gak begitu penting karena sebenarnya yang dibutuhkan nanti dalam pemrograman adalah nama instance name-nya.
Setelah movieclip ini jadi, pada properties beri nama instance name untuk movieclip ini dengan nama "jam_mc".

Berikutnya buat movieclip untuk jarum penunjuk menit dengan cara yang sama seperti diatas, yang terpenting adalah memberi nama instance name movieclip ini dengan nama "menit_mc".

Terus buat juga untuk jarum detiknya, beri nama instance namenya "detik_mc".

Abis itu susun ketiga jarum tersebut sehingga registration pointnya menempati
titik yang sama :)

Langkah terakhir masukkan Actionscript di bawah ini pada frame dengan cara klik frame, abis itu pada keyboard tekan tombol F9 sehingga akan muncul panel Actionscript :), yup, masukkan disitu… ;))

Jaringan Komputer Sederhana Untuk Berbagi Koneksi Broadband Internet Dengan Beberapa Komputer Di rumah

Cara membangun suatu jaringan komputer sederhana dirumah anda pada umumnya dimaksudkan untuk berbagi koneksi Internet seperti Speedy Telkom dengan beberapa komputer di lingkungan rumah anda baik jaringan kabel ataupun jaringan wireless. Saat anda berlangganan broadband Internet misalkan dari Speedy, maka fihak Telkom akan memberikan anda sebuah modem-router sederhana yang mempunyai minimum port-2 brikut ini:

1. 1 port RJ11 yang dipakai untuk koneksi ke kabel telpon, dimana port ini sebagai penghubung modem-router anda ke Internet.

2. 1 port USB yang bisa dipakai untuk menghubungkan modem-router anda langsung ke komputer menggunakan port USB dari komputer anda.

3. 1 port RJ45 sebagai port LAN 10/100 Mbps, anda bisa memanfaatkan port LAN ini untuk di koneksikan ke Switch sederhana 8 atau 12 port. Atau jika komputer anda mempunyai port NIC adapter, daripada menggunakan port USB – lebih baik menggunakan port LAN ini untuk koneksi ke NIC adapter komputer. Atau jika anda menggunakan wireless router atau Access Point, maka anda bisa memakai port ini sebagai input ke Access Point atau wireless router anda.

Konfigurasi dengan switch

Pada umumnya modem yang diberikan oleh fihak Telkom sudah merupakan modem yang termasuk didalamnya fungsi router dan juga mempunyai fungsi sebagai DHCP server juga untuk memberikan IP address pool kepada komputer yang terhubung kepada jaringan. Secara default fungsi DHCP ini adalah aktif jadi anda tidak perlu mengubahnya jika anda tidak faham betul dengan konfigurasi DHCP server.

Gambar berikut adalah modem-router paling sederhana yang biasanya diberikan fihak Telkom saat anda memulai berlangganan Speedy.

Fihak Telkom akan memberikan splitter – pembagi line menjadi dua line, satu line kabel untuk menghubungkan router-modem dan satunya lagi kearah telpon. Kedua piranti modem dan telpon ini bisa bekerja bersamaan tidak saling mengganggu satu sama lain karena menggunakan frequency yang jauh berbeda.

Dengan menggunakan modem-router yang paling sederhana dari Telkom tersebut sudah bisa menghubungkan dua komputer sekaligus, satu komputer dihubungkan dengan menggunakan kabel dan port USB, satu lagi menggunakan kabel UTP cross dari LAN port router ke NIC adapter dari komputer. akan tetapi jika anda ingin menghubungkan lebih dari dua komputer anda memerlukan sebuah switch sederhana 8 atau 12 port.

Bagaimana konfigurasinya? Konfigurasi bisa diikuti menurut diagram pada gambar dibawah berikut ini.

Setelah teknisi dari Telkom melakukan konfigurasi dari nodem-router, sebenarnya jaringan anda sudah siap dan anda tinggal menghubungkan port LAN RJ45 dari modem-router ke Switch dengan menggunakan kabel UTP yang datang bersamaan dari modem (Telkom) yang biasanya adalah merupakan kabel cross. Anda tinggal menghubungkan beberapa komputer dari Switch ke masing-2 interface NIC dari komputer dengan menggunakan kabel straight-trough.

Dari sini sebenarnya anda sudah siap, dan masing-2 komputer yang terhubung dengan Switch sudah bisa mengkases Internet Speedy secara bersamaan.

Bagaimana masing-2 komputer mendapatkan konfigurasi IP address?

Pada dasarnya modem-router anda secara default sudah aktif berfungsi sebagai DHCP server yang akan memberikan IP address secara automatis kepada komputer yang terhubung kepada switch tersebut. Yang anda perlu pastikan adalah bahwa semua komputer tersebut harus dikonfigure untuk menerima IP address secara automatis. Bagaimana caranya? Jika komputer anda sudah diinstall dengan Windows XP atau Vista, secara default dia sudah terkonfigurasi untuk menerima IP address secara automatis. Terkecuali jika anda sudah meng-utak atik konfigurasi TCP/IP nya dengan IP address manual.

Bagaimana anda melakukannya? Lakukan tahapan seperti pada kolom tabel berikut ini.

1. Pada bagian bawah kanan dilayar komputer anda perhatikan gambar komputer kembar dipojok kanan bawah.

2. Jika anda tidak mendapatkannya, anda bisa melakukan tahapan berikut: Klik Start => pilih Control Panel => cari ikon ‘Network Connection’ dan lakukan dobel klik => lompat ke step 4

3. Klik kanan ikon “lan connection” dan pilih ‘Open Network Connection’. Atau anda cukup klik saja ikon tersebut.

4. Klik kanan ikon “lan connection” dan pilih “Property” => kemudian pilih Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) => klik “Property”

5. Pastikan pada tab “general” kedua tombol radio di klik pada “obtain an IP address automatically” dan juga “obtain DNS server address automatically”

Sampai disini sebenarnya masing-2 komputer anda sudah bisa terhubung dengan Internet Speedy secara bersamaan.

Bagimana jika ingin menggunakan wireless Access Point?

Tidak jauh beda dengan konfigurasi yang menggunakan Swicth, anda tinggal mengganti posisi Switch dengan posisi Access Point dengan mengunakan kabel UTP yang sama.

Secara default tanpa harus melakukan konfigurasi apapun biasanya Access Point tersebut sudah bisa menyambung kepanjangan jaringan anda lewat wireless. Ada kalanya anda harus memberikan IP address baik menerima IP address dari DHCP server (dari modem-router) atau anda memberikan IP address manual. Akan tetapi demi keamanan jaringan wireless anda, jika anda harus melindungi jaringan private anda, anda harus melakukan konfigurasi dan mengaktifkan keamanan wireless WEP atau WPA2 yang paling kuat.

Sebenarnya sudah banyak dipasaran sebuah piranti wireless router yang terintegrasi dengan modem juga dan sudah termasuk didalamnya sebuah router dengan fitur dual firewall (NAT dan SPI) 4 port RJ-45 Switch, dan juga Access Point; seperti 3Com® ADSL Wireless 11n Firewall Router.

Tentu saja jaringan seperti ini adalah jaringan LAN sederhana yang diperuntukkan dalam rumahan, sederhana tidak sekompleks untuk membuat koneksi jaringan LAN seperti dalam suatu organisasi IT yang besar. Dalam suatu infrastruktur jaringan yang besar, anda tidak saja hanya membuat design jaringan yang kompleks saja, akan tetapi harus juga memikirkan suatu rencana penyelamatan dan pengembalian system jaringan anda in case terjadi suatu bencana.

Again, please bear with me... Let's start with simple pin-out diagrams of the two types of UTP Ethernet cables and watch how committees can make a can of worms out of them. Here are the diagrams:

Note that the TX (transmitter) pins are connected to corresponding RX (receiver) pins, plus to plus and minus to minus. And that you must use a crossover cable to connect units with identical interfaces. If you use a straight-through cable, one of the two units must, in effect, perform the cross-over function.

Two wire color-code standards apply: EIA/TIA 568A and EIA/TIA 568B. The codes are commonly depicted with RJ-45 jacks as follows (the view is from the front of the jacks):

If we apply the 568A color code and show all eight wires, our pin-out looks like this:

Note that pins 4, 5, 7, and 8 and the blue and brown pairs are not used in either standard. Quite contrary to what you may read elsewhere, these pins and wires are not used or required to implement 100BASE-TX duplexing--they are just plain wasted.
However, the actual cables are not physically that simple. In the diagrams, the orange pair of wires are not adjacent. The blue pair is upside-down. The right ends match RJ-45 jacks and the left ends do not. If, for example, we invert the left side of the 568A "straight"-thru cable to match a 568A jack--put one 180° twist in the entire cable from end-to-end--and twist together and rearrange the appropriate pairs, we get the following can-of-worms:

This further emphasizes, I hope, the importance of the word "twist" in making network cables which will work. You cannot use an flat-untwisted telephone cable for a network cable. Furthermore, you must use a pair of twisted wires to connect a set of transmitter pins to their corresponding receiver pins. You cannot use a wire from one pair and another wire from a different pair.

Keeping the above principles in mind, we can simplify the diagram for a 568A straight-thru cable by untwisting the wires, except the 180° twist in the entire cable, and bending the ends upward. Likewise, if we exchange the green and orange pairs in the 568A diagram we will get a simplified diagram for a 568B straight-thru cable. If we cross the green and orange pairs in the 568A diagram we will arrive at a simplified diagram for a crossover cable. All three are shown below.
